Mother Mamie Williams Obituary

Mamie Lee (AKA “Doll”} Holliday Williams was the oldest of three children born February 25, 193l in Waynesboro, Georgia to the late Eddie and Lillie Mae Holliday.  Mamie’s life was enhanced by love when she met and married John Williams.  Together they raised six children.    Mamie’s religious ties began at an early age at Pine Hill Church in Waynesboro, Ga.  She insisted that everyone attend church as a family.  After the family relocated to Miami, she joined Friendship Baptist Church and later became a founding member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church.

During those 66 years, Mamie served faithfully under the leadership of four pastors; Rev, Frank Thomas, Rev. David A Bradley, Bishop Victor T. Curry and Rev, James C. Kinchens, Jr.  She demonstrated her dedication to the church by giving countless hours to whatever the church needed.  Mamie worked throughout the years on the following auxiliaries: Shepherd’s Care, Seasons of Grief, Outreach Ministry, and Home Mission. Mamie has always expressed her musical talent and love to sing Gods praise.  She has been a member of the #1 Choir and the Gospel Chorus, Mass Choir and the Senior Saints. Mamie has always had a great love for singing so much so that many times she was asked to sing on the spur of the moment and nothing pleased her more.  Her favorite songs were “Stand” and “I Don’t Believe He Brought Me This Far to Leave Me”.

Mamie taught Sunday School to the Youth and was an avid Bible Study and Noon Day Prayer Attendee.

Mamie was proud to be a part of the Mother’s Board and extremely delighted to have been given the title “Mother of the Church”.  She held a special place in her heart for her pastor, Rev. James C. Kinchen, lst Lady Winifred and Jimmy.

Mamie’s employment history included working for several families as a housekeeper before becoming an Environmental Technician for ARA Services.

She was very active with the Arcola Lakes Seniors, until her health started to decline.
