Mary Elizabeth Saunders-Marshall

Mary Elizabeth Saunders Marshall, 92, departed this life, peacefully as she slept, Thursday, December 19, 2019, at Sinai Plaza Rehabilitation Center & Nursing Care, in Miami, FL.

Born April 28, 1927, Mary was educated by Miami-Dade public schools.  She was employed as a toy maker at Remco Industries in Newark, NJ. In Miami, Florida, she worked as a railroad employee for Florida East Coast Railway.  She was also a home nursing aide and an ardent homemaker. Mary was a member of the Saint Elizabeth Chapter of the Episcopal Church Women Guild. She was known by family as "Granny", "Grandma", and “Miss Mary”, all of which she throughly enjoyed. To remember her loving, caring, thoughtful, and wise nature she is survived by her devoted granddaughter, Adrienne Patrice Whitaker (formerly Marshall-Thomas); her loving sister, Louise Saunders Upshaw; devoted nieces and nephews, Ramona "Mona" Rahmings, Laura Rahmings Johnson, Samuel "Sam" Rahmings and Jerry Saunders Jr., devoted grandnieces and grandnephews, Tammy Riles Montgomery, Kenya Rahmings Jones (Jonathan), Tawanda Rahmings, Robert Riles, Jr., Todd Riles, Kevin Riles (Adrienne), Sean Rahmings, a host of great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews, and numerous family members in the Bahamas and Florida.  She also leaves behind three devoted friends, Barbara Smith, Mildred Byrd, and Agnes Gibbs, who assisted with her care. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Marshall, daughter Christine Elizabeth Marshall-Thomas, and brothers Jerry Saunders and Sidney Albury.  The family thanks her nursing care assistant, Esther Vazquez, for the loving care and companionship she provided "Miss Mary".
